Course Objectives

In this 2 Day Masterclass, participants will:

The trainer is an independent advisor with 20 years of experience in the power & renewable sector focusing on power project financing and PPAs in emerging markets.

He worked with leading IPP investors, finance institutions and governments across Africa, such as AfDB AFC, IFC, FMO, OFID, Norfund, Scatec, Engie, Enel, EDF, ESKOM, Actis, Globeleq, Aldwych, EGENCO, Oanda, Mainstream, ABSA, Central Bank of Nigeria, Total, AES, Sumitomo Mitsui, CNOOC, KPLC, Rand Merchant Bank. He is a part-time lecturer at IESE Business School and Frankfurt School of Finance.

Tailored to the specific challenges power projects face in an emerging market environment, this course will be heavily based on real case studies. Zoom in from the big picture context to quantitative and qualitative project-level details and back up again to understand the relationship between the two.

Each module will be enriched by using additional materials in the form of financial models, sample loan contracts, online tools and video clips to analyse case studies. There will be Hands-On financial analysis and structuring of IPP projects to make participants understand why projects have failed or successfully been realised.
